SUDAMJA 2024 - Feast of St. Domnius and the Day of the City of Split
The City of Split celebrates its Day and the feast of its patron saint, St. Domnius, with over 60 religious, cultural, entertainment, and sports events, concentrated between May 1st and 7th, with several events before and after that period. The program begins on April 28th with a novena in honor of St. Domnius at the cathedral, concluding on May 12th with the International Rowing Regatta "St. Duje".
In addition to traditional events such as the solemn session of the City Council and the procession on the feast day itself, the program includes the largest number of concerts to date, with four major ones at the Riva and nine at the Pjaca. The big anniversaries are also included, such as the Year of Marko Marulić, the centenary of the Sailing Club 'Labud,' and the hundredth anniversary of the gallery Salon Galić. A novelty is the international program at Pjaca, featuring a jazz concert and an exhibition in the old city hall.
Furthermore, a program of cultural institutions for all ages is planned, including a free performance of the Split Akvarel for retirees on May 8th. The Sudamja event also encompasses World Dance Day with a performance by the City Orchestra 'Imotski' with the Majorettes of the city of Split and the traditional parade of the Stjepan Radić Wind Orchestra from Žrnovnica with the Split Majorettes.
In addition, there are traditional folk festivals such as the feast of Holy Cross, the showcase performance of the majorette dance 'Let Split Sing with Children,' and concerts featuring acts like the Four Tenors, Natali Dizdar, Vojko V., and Grše. The celebration of the Day of Marjan in collaboration with the Public Institution for the Management of the Marjan Forest Park includes a rich program at various locations, including a klapa concert, children's program, blues festival, and Sudamja fair. The concert program concludes with performances by Vocalists A-strana (May 6th) and Petar Grašo with fireworks (May 7th) at the Riva.
