KineDok: Kim

In partnership with KineDok, we present a selection from this year's film catalog in the Prostor gallery from September 2023 to April 2024.

In March, we will showcase the Hungarian film "Kim," a documentary by director Erika Kapronczai about the exceptional painting talent of Belgian-Hungarian artist Kim Corbisier.

About the film:

Dive into the world of Kim Corbisier, a multi-talented Belgian-Hungarian artist who left an indelible mark on the art world before her tragic death at the age of 27. The film provides a glimpse into Kim's life and reveals the creative process of an artist who managed to transform pain and chaos arising from drug addiction and identity crisis caused by a series of unfortunate family events into unique works of art. Director Erika Kapronczai develops the story as a mosaic of authentic footage filmed by Kim herself, with poignant memories of her loved ones. Kim recorded this footage with the intention of making a documentary about her struggle with drug addiction. After her death, Erika decided to complete it as a memoir of her life, paying tribute to her legacy.

Language (subtitles): Hungarian (Croatian and English subtitles)

Duration: 86 min

Screenings from the KineDok series are free and open to the public, but as seating is limited, it is necessary to reserve your seat through the link (for each person separately).

Adopt a Space: Art Workshop for Kids

Create your paper toy on the theme "Flying Insect" at The Art Kids Club workshop. The Art Club's art workshops are designed as interactive playrooms where all children, regardless of their artistic affinity, can have fun and develop their creativity with the support of professional art educators.

This project sees art as entertainment and socializing through creative expression, emphasizing the process of creating rather than focusing solely on the artistic value. The aim is for children to gain more than just the final result but to find a place where they can express themselves freely, develop communication skills, and learn about art in a relaxed and informal way.

The workshop is for children aged 6 to 10.

Mandatory registrations are to be sent to theartclub.hrv@gmail.com.

THE GRID: CREATIVE PATHS OF RENUNCIATION / Workshop (intensive course) and Participatory Exhibition

Workshop: March 8 - March 12

Lecture: March 8, 18:00

Exhibition: March 12 - April 2

On Friday, March 8, at 18:00, artist Kruno Jošt will give a public lecture on artistic aspirations that represent a life without relying on public services such as electricity, water, or gas, and other technologies we take for granted in our daily lives. In his practice, Jošt creatively combines permaculture and sustainability concepts with the art of "renunciation" without overly romanticizing. The lecture is open to the public and serves as an introduction to the practical part of the workshop that the artist will conduct at Prostor.

In the workshop, participants will collectively build a model of a sustainable house, starting from ideation, sketching, and realization in the form of a model. The process and results, along with Kruno's material, will be presented at the exhibition opening on Tuesday, March 12, at 20:00.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

  • Fri. March 8 / Lecture/Introduction 18:00 - 19:00 (open to the public)

The number of participants is limited, and applications are accepted until March 7 at info@culturehubcroatia.hr, with the subject "OFF THE GRID - application."

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Through deep, locally anchored, and transdisciplinary research methods, Kruno Jošt reflects on ecological contextualities with a fascination for entering expanded spatial sequences and unexpected time spans. Freely migrating from one scale to another, he connects subjective perspectives into new collective movements and entanglements. In this way, he has developed a unique artistic practice dealing with permaculture, off-grid living, sustainability, and interaction between humans and non-humans in the field of contemporary art.

Jošt's extensive projects such as "Center for Creative Solutions" (C4CS), "Ecocentric," and "SoundGarden" consistently demonstrate a deep understanding and well-thought-out position in the contemporary discourse on art, the environment, and technology. Jošt's works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including "Sound Fertilizer" at BBD, Berlin; "Ecocentric" at RMZ Ecoworld, Bangalore, India; "PTP" at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka, Croatia; "Playing to Microbes" in the Swedish region of Halland. Mindfulness Ceramics

The Terrum Association organizes a mindfulness ceramics workshop on Thursday, March 14, starting at 17:00 at Prostor.

In addition to its aesthetic aspects, ceramics has a therapeutic effect that occurs simultaneously during the process of creating with clay. This process integrates mental and emotional brain functions and both the left and right hemispheres, considering that both hands are needed for working on the wheel. The therapeutic effect of the pottery wheel begins with the very touch of the clay, causing sensations in the body. Through the dispersed amorphous mass on the wheel, we become aware of our internal balance, relax the mind, and with the energy and strength of the body, we establish control over the work. Through the phases of working on the wheel, transforming material into a concrete structure, we establish and become aware of our own limits and needs, establish a sense of our strength and control, and awaken the creator within us, the creator of our decisions and life.

When working with participants, integrative body-oriented psychotherapy methods, mindfulness, and elements of expressive art therapy with a focus on ceramics will be used.

All materials and tools for work are provided!

The workshop fee is €40, and secure your spot by emailing terrum.org@gmail.com.
